
Matchups Hackathon Terms & Conditions
Please review the Terms and Conditions before signing up for the Overwolf Matchups Hackathon. By signing up to join this virtual hackathon, it is considered that you have read, understood and explicitly agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
ELIGIBILITY
- All participants must be 18 years old and above.
- This is a team-based competition. Each team must comprise at least 1 app developers and 1 designer.
- Developers will be recruited individually. Interested designers will use this form to apply for the Hackathon.
- All successful applications will receive an e-mail confirmation by 26th of July. We reserve the right to reject your registration to participate in this hackathon for any reasons whatsoever at our sole and absolute discretion.
- This hackathon is limited to only 10 teams.
- Employees of the organizer, Overwolf and their immediate family members (spouse, children, parents, siblings, etc) are ineligible to join this hackathon.
COMPETITION MECHANICS
- All participants will be required to attend our virtual opening event on the 1st of August.
- All teams must start designing/coding using the existing app as base. You’re allowed to work with open source resources that are publicly available.
- The entire hackathon will be facilitated via our virtual event platform. All teams will receive mentorship and guidance from the organizers virtually to enable them to complete their projects and submit the final work within the due date.
- All projects must be completed and submitted to us on or before the 29th of August at 12:00 UTC. Your online submission shall include a PDF/Figma file containing design for at least a desktop screen and an ingame screen, and a video illustrating the design.
- The judges’ decision is final and no communication in this regard shall be entertained.
- Nothing herein shall constitute an employment, joint venture or partnership relationship between you or your team and the organizer.
HACKATHON PRIZES
- The Grand Prize winner will receive a cash prize of $3,000, mentorship session with the Overwolf acceleration team.
- The 1st Runner-up winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000.
- The 2nd Runner-up winner will receive a cash prize of $500.
- Teams 4th – 10th will receive a cash prize of $100.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
- You hereby confirm and agree that all work presented during the Hackathon is original work and does not and will not infringe the intellectual property or proprietary rights of any third party, including, without limitation, any third-party patents, copyrights or trademarks.
- All Intellectual Property rights to the designs and codes of the app developed at this hackathon are wholly owned by the teams, but the designers will grant the app developers of each team the right to use the designed products in their app indefinitely.
- You undertake to indemnify the organizer against all costs, expenses, charges, demands, claims, actions, losses and damages which the organizer may suffer or sustain as a result of any claim that your project or working prototype is illegally obtained or unauthorized, or that any third party’s intellectual property rights or proprietary rights have been infringed.
CANCELLATION & POSTPONEMENT
- Personal information collected from Entrants as a result of any Submission will be used (a) for the purpose of administering the Competition, including for providing any notifications regarding the Competition to Entrants and (b) in order to provide Entrants with newsletters about various Overwolf products, activities, events or contests. By accepting these Terms and Conditions or making a Submission, you affirmatively consent to receive such commercial messages. You can request to stop receiving future communications from us by following the unsubscribe link located at the bottom of each communication. Please note that we reserve the right to send you service related communications, including service announcements and administrative messages, relating to the Competition, without offering you the opportunity to opt out of receiving them. By accepting these Terms and Conditions or by participating in the Competition, the Entrant grants Overwolf an irrevocable right to use any non-confidential information provided in connection with such participation in connection with the Competition, in any way, at its sole discretion, including for the purpose of publications and presentation of the information by Overwolf or anyone on its behalf (including commercial and advertising information), in accordance with any applicable laws and regulations, including the Privacy Protection Law 1981. The Entrant hereby waives, for no consideration, any right or claim with regard to the use of his/her photographs, names or his/her information by Ovewolf in scope of any publication concerning the Competition.
GENERAL
- We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions or at any time without prior notice. In the event that any changes are made, the revised terms and conditions shall be posted on this website immediately. Please check the latest information posted herein to inform yourself of any changes.
